EAT’s Here at the Bonifacio High Street

October 1, 2011

The last stop of the live cooking demonstration of Philippine Star’s EAT Dining Festival was held in Bonifacio High Street (BHS) on September 23 to 25, 2011.

The 3-day event was all about food and fun.

Chef Claude Tayag showed that there are many ways on how to cook and prepare a famous Filipino dish – the fresh lumpia.  He named the dish STAR Lumpia Tower.  To delight the audience even more, he prepared  a different kind of buko-pandan for dessert. It was Filipino food fest for day 1.

Day 2 was made exciting by Chef Tristan Encarnacion with his Asian-infused tuna appetizer and Hungarian and Gorgonzola cream pasta.

On its last day, the EAT Dining festival ‘s live cooking demo had Chef Bruce Lim, who grew up in US but is very much Filipino in his cooking style and preferences. Calamansi Tuyo Spaghetti , Prawn Mango Salad with Tinapa Vinaigrette, and Ilocano Table on a Plate were the dishes he happily cooked for the audience to taste.

The 3-day food festival delighted not only the adult foodies but the kids as well. In partnership with Magsaysay Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts, a junior chef activity was conducted wherein kids were tasked to prepare simple sandwiches and desserts that are all healthy and easy to prepare.  Student-chefs of Magsaysay Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts gladly assist the enthusiastic junior chefs.

Parents and guardians were cheering on the side as they show their full support to their kids. Special awards were given to junior chefs who made their sandwiches and desserts in the most creative way.
